One of nature's best shows - the Northern Lights

Have you started a travel wish or bucket list yet?  One of the world's most magical sights is the Northern Lights, which you might also hear as the Aurora Borealis.  It is not easy to describe this phenomenon when watching these beautiful lights dancing across the night sky.  That's why I believe seeing the Northern Lights should be on your bucket list.  Let's look at five other reasons.

1. Unforgettable Travel Destinations

Beyond that the Northern Lights, many other attractions are at your disposal when traveling to these destinations.  Before enjoying the night sky, you can enjoy what the destination has to offer during the day.  Make your travels unforgettable by looking at polar bears while snowmobiling, going on glacier hikes, and becoming a musher for the day.  I witnessed a magnificent display of this beautiful show during my first trip to Iceland.  Our group waited in a field near our hotel for hours.  At 3 AM, I was about to give up and go to sleep, but was convinced to stay 15 more minutes, and it was worth it!

2. No Two Light Shows Are The Same

I recommend glamping to watch the Northern Lights for more than one night, or traveling on an expedition cruise, such as Ponant.  I don't camp and that way, you're guaranteed to see a different show every night.  Because Northern Lights are unpredictable, you might see neon-green strokes, fiery red rainbows, bright white lassoes, and more.  Between late August and early April, you might see lights appearing between 5:00 PM and 2:00 AM.

3. Have a Life-Changing Experience

Seeing the Northern Lights is a life-changing experience because you see one of nature's greatest spectacles. As soon as you see the lights, you'll appreciate how beautiful the world and its treasures can be.  These life-changing experiences can occur in Alaska, Iceland, Finland, Greenland, Norway, or Sweden.

4. Capture Once-in-a-Lifetime Photographs

When you want to freeze moments in time, photography is the best way.  That way, when traveling is no longer feasible, you can look back on these moments.  Capturing these memories is more than finding Instagram-worthy shots and sharing them with your followers.  Instead, you're documenting the lights, scenery, and how you're taking it all in.

5. You'll Never Be Closer to Magic

When viewing the Northern Lights, the magic you experience is different from seeing a magician or someone performing tricks.  Seeing the Aurora Borealis is a different kind of magical experience. You're taking steps away from resigning yourself to seeing the same night sky or if you're in an industrial city, gray skies. Seeing these lights brings the spark back into your life.

Even though photos and videos can help capture this memory, there's nothing like seeing the Northern Lights up close and personal in a manner that suits your travel style.  When you are ready to start planning, contact me to pick the best destination to see this gorgeous phenomenon.
